Newspaper-Copyright LawIn the current situation as several businesses are running out of business at a fast pace, one of the main reasons is blamed on blogs as well as websites which link to the content on newspaper sites.Several proposals have been formulated,in the U.S. and abroad, to modify the existing law which causes several damages to the newspaper.

Its ironic that one of the proposals to modify the law to benefit newspapers comes from a judge who blogs regularly.Judge Richard Posner of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit also works as a professor at the University of Chicago Law School and is a bright and creative scholar.Usually when he speaks, people listen well.Lately, when Judge Posner blogged regarding this issue, people listened and commented in huge numbers.

The judge recommended that the solution to the problem may be to transform copyright law to disallow linking to or paraphrasing paper content.Intensifying copyright law to prevent online access to copyrighted materials without the permission of copyright holder, or to prevent linking to or paraphrasing copyrighted materials without the approval of copyright holder, might be obligatory in order to avoid further damage to newspapers.

However many have commented in the blog that the Judge’s suggestion is extremely strange and impractical.
