Borden Ladner Gervais LLP with offices in Calgary will be honored at the 2010 Canadian Pro Bono Awards on Sept. 16 in Calgary for its pro bono work.
The award will be granted at the third national Pro Bono Conference, at the Fairmont Palliser. The awards night focuses the pro bono efforts, or legal work undertaken without charge, of companies and individuals trying to improve access to justice in Canada.
Two other Alberta entries who will be honoured at the awards ceremony include Dawson Stevens Duckett and Shaigec of Edmonton.On the other hand Judge John T. Henderson, also of Edmonton, will obtain the Pro Bono Distinguished Service Award.
The 2010 nominees and recipients have established dedication to the development and delivery of pro bono legal services and have contributed major work towards mounting innovative approaches to delivering volunteer legal services. They have in addition demonstrated leadership in improving access to justice.
